The recent vote by the people of Moorpark to prohibit the development of North Park is another example of tyranny by the majority. The development of land should be left up to the people willing to invest in home building, monitored by development engineers on the public payroll. Then we would have ample housing for everyone. The public has no business making these kinds of decisions. The people of Ventura County need to wake up and recognize that this Save Open-space and Agricultural Resources stuff is socialism, pure and simple.

The people of California have got to be some of the most ignorant people in the country. We do not permit the drilling of oil to help our country's fuel needs. We do not permit the construction of hydroelectric or nuclear power plants to help produce electricity. We obstruct the logging and lumber industry, which makes home construction more costly and fewer jobs for the people living in the mountains. We deny the placement of offshore unloading facilities for gas and oil. We should be ashamed of ourselves for our selfish and elitist attitudes.

If the whole country had the "not in my back yard" mentality, like Californians do, we would become a Third World nation. Thank God that right-thinking people inhabit the majority of our nation.

In the future, the S.O.A.R. initiative must be challenged as being unconstitutional, given that no group has a right to dictate to individual property owners how they will be able to dispose of their property.
