Electricity History, Articles and News
Power shortage: Of course I've heard about it. As of now, I haven't faced it though. My c... Turn it OFF!...
My contribution: I hardly stay at home, except at night. And my staff and puppies use only one room, so there's hardly any usage of power in the rest of the flat. Also, I ensure that after charging my phone, I switch it off. I've told my staff to switch off and unplug the oven as soon as they finish cooking.
My contribution: I don't waste energy in any form. I have always maintained that one should not over-use electricity so much that it leads us to darkness.
My contribution: We should switch on the fan; stop using air conditioners for long hours. And not switch on tubes and bulbs in the day. Every little bit counts and whatever one does will help in a big way.
My contribution: The television industry uses a lot of power (through generators), especially while shooting at night. So we will have to work out a common point.
Power shortage: I have heard about the state's electricity shortage, and that steps are being taken to levy extra tax for excess consumption. We should do our bit by cutting down AC usage.
My contribution: I am going on a holiday for nine days, so electricity won't be used at my house, and that will go into saving. Any little saving goes in helping a long way.
My contribution: I will try and reduce the consumption in my own way. But everyone needs to be aware of this. Mumbai is developing at a tremendous speed and the problem needs to be tackled immediately.
My contribution: For starters, we should put off the lights in our homes when we don't need them. I have started taking care to switch off lights, fans and the AC when I leave the room.
Power shortage: Yes, I have heard about the shortage of electricity in the state. It would be wonderful if India and Nepal had a treaty for water resources (Nepal has a big capacity for electricity through water resources). It could help, especially in border areas.
My contribution: I have already taken initiatives. I put off the TV when my show is on air. I'm not using the geyser and also plan to save water by bathing only once a month. Finally, I'll be able to save power completely by not paying the bill. So there'll be no possibility of further consumption after the power supply is disconnected at my house.
My contribution: I've already briefed my staff and domestic help at home. I'm planning to stay without air conditioners if the problem persists.
Power shortage: Know about it? We have been going through the electricity crisis since yesterday and the power in my whole locality has been off for two to three hours.
My contribution: We need to curtail the consumption of electricity. Switch off lights, TV, especially the bathroom lights, use gas more instead of a microwave.
My contribution: I am a non-AC person. The TV at my home is not switched on 24/7 without reason. Neither do I use power-guzzling gadgets. We should work towards preventing this situation from worsening, rather than cribbing about it.
Power Shortage: I just landed in Mumbai this morning and there has been no electricity at home. I have no clue when it's going to come back on. It's like load-shedding has already begun.
My contribution: One is always careful about how much electricity one uses. In fact, I am the first one to switch off a fan if it is not being used.
My contribution: Since childhood, we have been taught to conserve electricity. So even if we have decorative lights, they come on only when there are guests or if there's an occasion.
