(Lafayette, Ind.-AP) Indiana officials are cheering an announcement this morning that Toyota will begin building Camry sedans at the Subaru plant in Lafayette starting in spring of next year. Toyota officials say the new assembly line will bring about one-thousand jobs to the plant. Governor Daniels is on hand at the plant for the announcement. The Lafayette plant has 2,300 employees and makes about 100,000 Subaru vehicles a year, including Outback station wagons, Legacy sedans and Baja and B-9 Tribeca sport-utility vehicles. Subaru says there's extra production capacity at the plant. The Camry was the top-selling car in the United States in 2005 for the fourth year in a row. Toyota is planning a hybrid version of the Camry that will be powered by both electricity and gasoline.
